Open Office

A very useful free office programme provided by Sun Microsystems. It is fully compatible with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. If you can't afford MS Office but want something that is better than Wordpad, this is the programme for you. It has  word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing and database programmes. It can even export documents as a PDF, which even the great MS Office can't do.

Sunbird Calandar

Another excellent offering from Mozilla. This calandar/organiser is extremely useful for planning your home or business life. Totally free to download and use.

AbiWord

AbiWord is a very good word processing programme that is compatible with Microsoft Word and many other word processing programmes. Totally free to use.

Deep Burner

A great little CD burning programme. It also has a pay-for version if you want more features like creating audio CDs. But if you just want to burn data CDs or DVDs, this is the one for you.

Adobe Acrobat Reader for Win 2K & XP

An essential programme used for reading PDF files which are distributed on the internet. This version is compatible with Windows XP and Vista.
