Windows latest Media Player. An excellent free product, but will only run on Windows XP with Service Pack 2.

VLC Media Player

Also known as Videolan. A very capable media player with a small memory footprint. Try this one if you can't get a file to play on any other media player, may even play broken or incomplete files.

MusikCube

MusikCube is a very capable MP3 player and music organiser. Great for creating playlists and keeping track of your tunes.

Apple QuickTime

Apple QuickTime is a very capable movie player. It can be downloaded with or without Apple iTunes, which is a music player and essential for iPod owners. Install this one slowly and untick all the boxes as you go or you will end up with Google and Yahoo content which you may not want.


Real Player

Real Player is a music and video player. Some website content will only work if this player is installed on your system. Ensure you pick the basic free player, unless you want the pay-for version. Again, as with QuickTime, untick all the boxes as you install to avoid possible unwanted extras.
